A Little Bit About Us...

Tim and Hazel have been live aboard boaters for several years having decided to step off the “roundabout”.  To keep occupied Tim rekindled his passion for woodwork and started narrowboat joinery, fitting out several  boats.

We noticed the covers on our boat were looking shabby and after receiving unsatisfactory quotes, we bought a sewing machine and sourced the materials required. Having previous upholstery experience and drawing on Tim’s engineering background we made new covers for our boat. Then a friend asked if we could make theirs, then a neighbour saw that and… well , the rest is history.

Through word of mouth our cover making business became full time and Cratch Covers & Canopies was born over 10 years ago.

We are lucky to have grown this way, from a sewing machine in a friends’ lounge, to full workshop facilities in Nantwich. Many of our customers have become good friends, who often return to us when they need further covers or have simply changed boats and want our covers.
